Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development is limited. The ideas regarding government failure and the need for fines are relevant but remain superficial. The essay lacks specific examples or detailed explanations to fully support the arguments. For instance, the mention of 'lack of recycling failure' is unclear, and the solutions are presented in a very brief, list-like manner. To reach a higher band, you need to expand on your points with concrete examples or deeper analysis of why these issues persist.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as starting sentences with 'Because' or 'Which'. Referencing is also problematic; for example, 'This happens due to...' is vague, and the connection between the problem and the solution is not clearly articulated. The conclusion is repetitive and does not effectively summarise the main points. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence flows logically from the previous one is essential.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'garbage', 'recycle', and 'problems'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'lack of recycling failure' and 'every day people life'. Some phrases are awkward, such as 'most of the recycle products through out in garbage'. To improve, you should focus on using a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'sustainability', 'waste management', 'environmental degradation') and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of the countries trying', 'government have to'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragments or run-on sentences, such as 'Which will be possible to recycle.' The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences accurately.
