Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this cutting edge era, this is a heated argument over the issue that in myraid regions folks do not recycle their garbage as this is a serious environmental issues because large amount of waste is sent to landfills everyday . There are several factors for this reason, and I think governments and individuals can take some necessary steps to alleviate this problem l

One major reason that why people do not recycle is lack of awareness. Many people do not know which materials can be recycled or how recycling benefits to the environment or biology . In addition to this, recycling facilities are not accessible to everyone . For instance , some residential place do not have separate bins for paper, plastic and glass. As a result many persons throw all their waste in the same bin because it’s more naive and convenient.

There are numerous ways to encourage people to recycle more. First, governments should provide better recycling facilities and place recycling bins in every area. Furthermore, there should be educational campaigns provided to explain the importance of recycling towards the jeunes. Also the High authorities should introduce the financial incentives such as discounts or give some small rewards to the people who recycle regularly. It should be a great move for recycling.it also benefits to the the environment as well .

In conclusion , people often recycle less as they are not aware . I think if both governments and individuals put their efforts to work together, they can solve this issue as soon as possible

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of awareness and the need for better infrastructure. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the suggestion of 'financial incentives' is mentioned but not fully explained in terms of how it would practically function. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from more detailed examples or a deeper exploration of the 'why' behind the lack of recycling to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition to this', 'For instance', and 'Furthermore'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For example, the final sentence of the second paragraph uses 'naive' incorrectly, which disrupts the logical flow of the argument. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow, but the use of cohesive devices could be more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though it lacks precision and variety. There are some instances of awkward word choice, such as 'jeunes' (a French term) instead of 'young people' or 'youth', and 'biology' which is used incorrectly in the context of recycling benefits. The phrase 'High authorities' is also slightly unnatural. While the student attempts to use a range of vocabulary, the errors in word choice and the reliance on basic descriptors prevent a higher score. More precise terminology related to environmental issues would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'benefits to the environment or biology' (incorrect verb usage), 'some residential place' (pluralization error), and 'it also benefits to the the environment' (repetition and incorrect preposition). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some spacing issues before commas. While the meaning is rarely obscured, the frequency of these minor errors indicates a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence-level accuracy.
