Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days, in most of the nations ,individual's never recycled their waste as they have to do.There are some reasons behind this phenomenon and some measures should be taken to reduce this issue.

On the one hand, the causes related to this trend is higher in some areas. Firstly, due to the advancement in technology, spending is larger nowadays than past. To explain it more, they purchase too many things for themselves ,house and office too.when they want a some changes there they easily ordered the new things rather than recreating the older ones.As a result,we can see more landfills nowadays. Moreover, people do not have habit to put the things separately while putting into the garbage. They just put everything together and don’t care about the environment and future consequences.this happened due to the hectic schedule and less awareness. As a result, our future generations will survive with climate changes.

On the other hand, there are few measures that should be taken by everyone. Not only the single person can take action regarding this problem,it’s the responsibility of everyone. They should have to start from their home then others will definitely start following them. Another solution is that officials should have to start campaigns regarding the environment and educate the people by doing seminars. Not only this, they should have to star compulsory subject related to environment in schools. So that the children will be aware about the futher consequences.

In conclusion,Although people are more educated and know more about the recycling process in advanced countries but if the measures should be taken the whole world will start colpying other nations if their will be a good rewards for green nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of consumerism and the need for educational campaigns. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding 'advancement in technology' is a bit vague, and the solutions could be more specific. The conclusion is slightly disjointed and does not fully summarize the main points effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that each reason and solution is supported by more detailed examples or logical consequences, and maintain a clearer, more consistent position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To explain it more' and 'Not only this'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' without a clear antecedent in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved to make the progression of ideas feel more natural and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'phenomenon' and 'consequences'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'spending is larger' instead of 'consumption is higher', 'recreating the older ones' instead of 'repairing or reusing', and 'colpying' (spelling error). The range is sufficient to communicate, but the lack of precision and occasional spelling mistakes prevent it from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('individual's never recycled', 'causes... is higher'), article misuse ('a some changes'), and punctuation errors (missing spaces after commas and periods). Complex structures are attempted, but they often contain errors that slightly impede the flow. To improve, focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and verb tenses, and ensure that punctuation is used correctly to separate independent clauses.
