One of the primary reasons why many countries are unable to recycle the garbage is amount of capital needed for recycling process. The process is very extensive, complicated and laborious needs huge physical and capital investments. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the high cost of infrastructure and the need for source segregation. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion of 'global unity' is a bit vague and could have been supported with more concrete examples of international cooperation. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis remains at a surface level. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more specific explanations or examples, ensuring that the link between the problem and the proposed solution is more robustly established.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Hence, biodiversity and ecosystem is significantly degraded' is used, but the connection between the previous sentence and this conclusion is slightly disjointed. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth flow, such as 'The process is very extensive, complicated and laborious needs huge physical and capital investments,' where the grammar hinders the cohesive link. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'detrimental effect,' 'biodiversity,' and 'segregation.' However, there are instances of word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'make recycling more smoother' (should be 'smoother') and 'problems will be sustainable solved' (should be 'sustainably solved'). Some phrasing is also repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'extensive' and 'rubbish.' While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. Focusing on collocations and ensuring word forms are used correctly will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include missing articles ('dumped almost 90 percentage of solid waste on landfill sites'), subject-verb agreement ('biodiversity and ecosystem is'), and incorrect verb forms ('can be use for vegetation'). While you attempt complex structures, they are often marred by these errors. To improve, focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, pluralization, and passive voice constructions. Ensuring that your sentences are grammatically sound before attempting more complex structures will lead to a more professional and accurate piece of writing.
