Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern world, individuals do not prefer to reuse the things that they could. In this essay. I am going to illustrate the causes of this trend along with some solutions how we can change this.

There are numerous reasons why I think people do not like to reuse their trash. First and foremost reason is individuals has hectic schedule in their life. People are not only doing jobs, but also they are taking care of children and home which make them unable to reuse thing from litter that they can. For example, in 2020, there was one survey conducted on recycle things by BBC company. The results were shocked as 91% people do not do recycle because of not getting sufficient time. Another reason is that due to technology, there are several products are coming in market which are better that the previous ones because these are completing work in a very less time and they are more convenient.

There are several steps that we can take to change this trend. Firstly, government can introduce new laws regarding wastage per house. There is one fixed amount of wastage is applicable so people try to recycle the things. Secondly, government can plan some mandatory meetings at workplace about the recycling and the effects of garbage on nature. In that way, people become aware about reusable things and understand the responsibility they have towards nature.

To conclude, while individuals are busy in their lifestyle and technology puts impact on them to purchase new items, people should have to recycle the things as much as they can. This can be done by the support from government and understanding the responsibility of ours towards nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of time due to busy lifestyles and the role of government intervention. However, the development is somewhat limited. The example regarding the BBC survey is a good attempt at support, but the explanation of why technology discourages recycling is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explained with clear links to the prompt. The position is clear throughout, and the essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Another reason', and 'Firstly', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the phrase 'the results were shocked'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better sentence-to-sentence cohesion to avoid a repetitive structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'hectic schedule' and 'mandatory meetings'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'do not do recycle' instead of 'do not recycle' and 'completing work in a very less time' instead of 'in much less time'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('individuals has hectic schedule'), article misuse ('in one survey'), and awkward phrasing ('there are several products are coming'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the response. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses, articles, and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
