Student answer (Band 6.0)
Awareness about waste management must be increased around the globe. It is a going debate about waste recycling and many people believe citizens are not recycling the waste appropriately. However, government should educate people in regards to waste management. I believe proper education and guidance can help tackle the concern.
Lack of knowledge about waste management is a main cause. Uneducated citizens does not information about recycling garbage and they mix up all waste together. Modern facilities for collecting waste is not available in every locality. For instance, villages do not have facility of garbage collection which result in dumping of all garbage together near by river. It harms the nature on a high scale and disturb the living of flora and fauna.
The local ministry should conduct seminar to provide information on waste classification and how to deal with each type of waste. Providing knowledge will spread awareness among the locals and they will understand the importance of recycling waste products. It will help protect the environment. The governing bodies can supply photos of how waste is classified in different categories and what waste falls in each category. To cite an example, household can sort garbage according to the garbage chart helps to process it easily at the recycling plant.
To conclude, recycling waste is very essential to save the nature. Citizens plays an important role in ensuring recycling rubbish has a increasing pattern and helps the ministry to implement the policies. I believe both government and people have to work together to protect the environment and educate people to learn the importance of recycling.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding the lack of facilities in villages is relevant but could be expanded with more specific detail on how this impacts recycling behavior. The solutions provided, such as seminars and charts, are practical but could be more sophisticated in their presentation. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more depth and nuance rather than relying on brief explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a progression of ideas from the problem to the solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the transition between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother; phrases like 'To cite an example' and 'To conclude' are used correctly but are quite standard. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the connection between the 'garbage chart' and the 'recycling plant'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring tighter logical flow would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'waste management', 'classification', and 'recycling plant'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as 'disturb the living of flora and fauna' (which is slightly unnatural) and 'on a high scale' (instead of 'on a large scale'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to express ideas more fluently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Uneducated citizens does not information', 'Citizens plays') and missing articles or incorrect pluralization ('facility of garbage collection', 'household can sort'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To achieve a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, while continuing to experiment with more complex sentence structures.
