Student answer (Band 6.0)
In various countries, individuals do not recycle their waste as much they should. Today, I will provide my viewpoint on this issue. I will provide some reasons and solutions to mitigate this situation.
Firstly, a lack of public awareness is main cause, as people are often unaware of how to recycle waste. Most of the time, they do not know in which bin they use for several types of waste. Eventually, waste start to collect. There is no way out. Although, there is modernization in society but, little percentage of the population remains consistently uninformed about this issue. Unfortunately, government officials remained silent throughout this time period.
Apart from this, law enforcement should create public campaigns and camps to spread awareness in public for garbage collecting. They should provide different colored bins to people. Pertinent example, in Canada and lot more developed countries they have one day for garbage collection like Monday. So, day before from that day they put their recycle, garbage and compost in blue, black and green respectively. The banners should be created and pasted in the public regarding the garbage picking. In houses it should be made compulsory to either put on their fridge or on kitchen to be aware of it which garbage go where.
Finally, negligence and government fault cause these kinds of major problems which can be resolved with public solidarity. Schools should create programs about this topic and media should advertise ways to do garbage . So, it gets easy for the public to understand this scenario.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that 'government officials remained silent' is a broad generalization that lacks nuance. While the solutions provided (public campaigns, color-coded bins) are relevant, the explanation of how these would effectively change behavior is brief. The essay maintains a clear position throughout, but the depth of analysis is limited, preventing it from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or specific, well-integrated examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Apart from this', and 'Finally', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'There is no way out' or 'So, day before from that day'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that ideas follow one another more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'recycling', 'waste', and 'public awareness'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'little percentage of the population' (a small percentage) and 'garbage picking' (waste collection). There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and demonstrate a better grasp of collocations and idiomatic phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'waste start to collect' (subject-verb agreement), 'in which bin they use' (preposition/structure error), and 'on kitchen' (missing article). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentence structures are grammatically sound.
