Student answer (Band 6.0)

In most of the nations, people are not recycling their waste as much as they can. Because of a lack of knowledge and carelessness about their responsibilities for a sustainable growth and a safe enviornment.

The first and the foremost reason behind this is knowledge because the people who are illiterate and those who are living in the rural areas they dont know about the recycling process. According to me the another main reason is the people dont think that its our responsibility to help our authorities to make our enviornment clean and safe. For instance people are not using seperate garbage bins for the recycle things most of the people are using regular bins for all types of waste.

In my opinion , to do changes in the practise of the individuals government should launch a campaigns and some knowledge based free programs . There they can clearly shows how can we save our enviornment by doing only some small efforts. For example if our ministers announce that they will reward people who will follow all rules and regulations under the law of environmental concern. So this will encourage people a lot. One more thing they can do is charge penalties for those who are not recycling items so people can start recycling their rubbish. These things can work better for improvement in many nations.

To conclude, if government will take the above mentioned steps and aware the people by some programsor banners we can acheive our goals and create a safe and sustainable environment in our country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation regarding 'illiterate' people in rural areas is a generalization that lacks depth or nuance. While the ideas are relevant, they are not fully extended. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments could benefit from more specific examples or a more sophisticated analysis of why these issues persist. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations for your points rather than listing them briefly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'The first and the foremost reason' and 'To conclude,' which provide a basic structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of linking words is limited. Some transitions are abrupt, such as the jump between the problem and the example in the second paragraph. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. However, there is a lack of variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'things' and 'do changes,' which are repetitive and imprecise. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'enviornment' (repeatedly) and 'seperate.' To improve, you should focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to environmental issues, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy to avoid distracting the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'the people who are illiterate... they dont know' (redundant subject) and 'how can we save' (incorrect word order in an indirect question). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement and spacing. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
