Student answer (Band 6.0)

I strongly agree with the statement and i think its really important for all the people living in different countries to sort their garbage and recycle it properly. There are alot of problems caused by this issue and it impacts the global health and the humans living in it.

The foremost reason leading to this issue is the lack of knowledge about segregating the rubbish and how vital it is to do so. Also, this leads to everything going in the same dump and most of it not getting recycled fully and hence decomposing the land. I recently saw this article on internet where it stated that half of the problems are caused by mankind because they litter the land without understanding that theyre leading to pollution on mass scale. Countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh have been considered one the most polluted nations because they not seperate the rubbish as required and follow the traditional ways of depleting the land by putting all the stuff on the land and which leads to diseases like dengue and other health hazards for the animals living around too. Recently, an image showed up where the cows where looking for food in dump and they chewed plastic and this clearly shows how awful we are as humans.

According to me, the best solution to this issue is by implementing strict laws in all nations. One of the biggest and cleanest countries like Japan have done so. Government should issue fines, penalties if anyone goes against it and should be kept behind bars because it is high time for everyone to save our motherland from getting destroyed compeletly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention a lack of knowledge and government inaction, the ideas could be expanded with more depth. For instance, the discussion on 'lack of knowledge' is brief, and the solution of 'strict laws' is a common suggestion that lacks nuance. The position is clear, but the supporting examples, such as the mention of cows, are a bit informal and anecdotal. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with logical consequences rather than just stating the problem.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a standard structure. There is a logical progression from the problem to the solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions like 'Also' and 'According to me' are basic. Furthermore, some sentences are loosely connected, such as the transition between the article mention and the specific examples of countries. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common, informal phrasing such as 'stuff', 'awful', and 'a lot of'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'decomposing the land' and 'pollution on mass scale'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic or topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science and public policy. While your meaning is always clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common lexical items limits the score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'i think its' (missing apostrophe and capitalization), 'theyre' (missing apostrophe), 'where the cows where looking' (incorrect verb usage), and 'compeletly' (spelling error). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'one of the biggest and cleanest countries... have done so' (should be 'has'). While these errors do not prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the mid-range.
