Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding the reasons people do not recycle and what can be done about it. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat confused. For instance, the writer suggests that people do not recycle simply because they are 'rich in these countries' or because there are 'jobs in abroad' and they can easily buy new things. Furthermore, the discussion frequently drifts into unrelated details about poverty, begging, and petrol prices in Pakistan, before concluding abruptly with a brief anecdote about Austria. Additionally, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 240 words, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement. Consequently, the ideas are under-developed and lack clear progression, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organizational structure of the essay is a significant weakness. The response is written as a single, massive paragraph without any paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, body ideas, or conclusion, making it difficult to follow the progression of thought. Cohesive devices are minimal and repetitive, relying heavily on basic conjunctions like 'and' or repetitive phrasing such as 'In my country'. Referencing is also faulty in places, such as shifting abruptly from macro-level economic observations to personal anecdotes without transitional signals. Overall, the arrangement lacks clear overall progression and organization, which aligns with a Band 4.0 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic, repetitive, and often imprecise. The student frequently repeats terms like 'country', 'people', 'rich', and 'recycle' multiple times in close proximity. There are noticeable word choice and spelling errors, such as 'inmany', 'euorpe', 'medicne', 'loy', 'many' instead of 'much', 'oponion', and 'gar' (presumably cutting off 'garbage'). Less common lexical items are attempted awkwardly, and the lexical range remains limited and minimally adequate for the task, causing some difficulty for the reader at times. This performance is characteristic of Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting predominantly of simple sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions like 'and'. When complex structures or dependent clauses are attempted—such as 'In my oponion ,if we give jobs opportunity to people the seventy% beggary is control'—they contain noticeable errors. There are frequent grammatical inaccuracies, including missing articles ('According to given information', 'in euorpe'), subject-verb agreement issues ('there is a lot of people'), and incorrect prepositions ('jobs like in making'). Punctuation is also erratic, with spaces before commas and periods. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar at Band 4.0.
