Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern era, individuals prefer to live in a clean and peaceful environment. Despite this, they do not recycle the garbage appropriately, which cause pollution and other heath issues. This essay will discuss the main reasons of this preferences and suggest some possible measures to encourage people to recycle their rubbish.
To embark on, there are several reasons why individuals show less interest to recycle their own garbage. First of all, the dominat reason is busy schedule. People are busy in their daily routine and they do not have enough time to maintain the rubbish properly. As a result, they can not recycle those particular items, which can be utilized for futher purposes after recycling process. Moreover, young generation, spend their large amount of time on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. Therefore, they show less interest on these necessary things, which are also imperative for them.
On the other hand, there are some solutions to address this problem. Firstly, the governments should introduce public awareness campaigns. These campaigns could educate the people about the positive affects of recycling. Furthermore, the authorities can arrange proper composite bins in local areas. Those bins should be separated with different colour combinations, so residents can easily find where they have to throw rubbish for recycling. Hence, it becomes more conveinent and time-saving method for citizens.
In conclusion, although the major causes of this problem include busy schedule and execessive use of social media, the issue can be controlled through public awareness and with a proper guidance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could and suggesting measures to change this behavior. In the body paragraphs, the student puts forward ideas such as busy daily schedules and the distraction of social media as reasons for poor recycling habits. Solutions are also presented, including public awareness campaigns and colour-coded composite bins. However, the development of these ideas remains somewhat superficial. For example, the claim about the younger generation spending large amounts of time on social media is stated rather than fully connected to the core issue of rubbish management. Additionally, minor generalisations appear. Overall, all parts of the prompt are addressed, supporting a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is structured logically into an introduction, two body paragraphs covering causes and solutions respectively, and a short conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. Cohesive devices such as 'To embark on', 'First of all', and 'On the other hand' are employed to guide the reader through the text, though some phrases like 'To embark on' sound unnatural in this context. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall arrangement maintains coherence throughout, ensuring the reader can follow the writer's argument without confusion. This performance meets the criteria for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully using terms such as 'environment', 'pollution', 'awareness campaigns', and 'residents'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'heath issues' instead of 'health issues', 'dominat' instead of 'dominant', 'futher purposes' instead of 'further purposes', 'composite bins' instead of 'compost bins', and 'conveinent' instead of 'convenient'. Despite these inaccuracies and occasional spelling mistakes, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without severely impeding communication, aligning closely with a Band 5.5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay incorporates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in grammatical structures. For instance, sentences like 'Although the major causes of this problem include busy schedule and excessive use of social media, the issue can be controlled...' show an attempt at complex subordination. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('in modern era', 'the dominat reason is busy schedule'), tense and verb agreement slips ('which cause pollution', 'individuals show less interest to recycle'), and preposition errors ('interest on these necessary things'). These errors occasionally cause minor strain for the reader, placing the grammar performance firmly at Band 5.5.
