In today's world, waste management is a huge challenge for many countries. Individuals are not recycling their waste as they were doing in the past. This essay will adress the main reasons for this trend with some solutions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by identifying reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could (such as lack of knowledge and apathy) and proposing solutions (such as raising awareness and government initiatives/rewards). The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat under-developed and lack extension. For instance, the discussion on why people lack motivation remains brief and repetitive. Examples are provided, such as 'milk containers are recyclable', but they are generic. The response fits the Band 6 descriptor because it addresses all parts of the task, but some sections remain under-developed or simplistic in their explanations and support.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and is divided into appropriate paragraphs (introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion). Logical organisation is attempted, using basic cohesive devices such as 'First one is that', 'Another reason', and 'Secondly'. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'More people needs follow it' or 'without any motivation, they are following this system'. Paragraphing is present, but transitions between sentences can be abrupt. These features align closely with the Band 6 descriptor, where organisation is generally clear overall, but cohesive devices are sometimes misused or mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms related to the topic such as 'waste management', 'garbage', 'recyclable', and 'environment'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, though this is accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies and spelling errors, such as 'adress' instead of 'address', 'iteams' instead of 'items', 'insted' instead of 'instead', 'awarness' instead of 'awareness', and 'prices' instead of 'prizes'. Word choices are sometimes unnatural, like 'some people tired of following this system'. Because the errors do not impede communication, the vocabulary reaches the Band 6 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses with 'because', 'such as', and relative pronouns. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, resulting in frequent errors that affect clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('More people needs follow it', 'individuals, who is following'), missing articles ('is that lack of knowledge'), and awkward phrasing ('some people tired of following this system'). Punctuation and sentence boundaries occasionally fail. While complex structures are attempted, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors places this text firmly at Band 5.
