Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, the amount of garbage is increasing day by day. People from many countries are unable to recycle their waste and there are many reason behind this behaviour. However, this can be changed with proper mitigation and collaboration with citizens.

The most appealing reason behind this trend is lack of recycling facility or access to it. Another main point is unawareness of the process of recycling. People lack time in this busy world so instead of following the process they trash different wastes in the same bin. For instance, unavailability of separate bins makes people to throw they garbage in same containers without separeting them. As a result, even recyclable meterials ends up in non-recyclable bins. People should be made aware of their actions when they purchase and garbage any item for recycling.

The best solution to this issue can be solved only by coming together with the government as well as the general population of the country. To spread awareness campaigns and advertisement should be run on social media. Manufacturing companies can print lables on packegings displaying whether the products or packages are recyclable or non-recyclable. For example, in Japan many news papers are bio-degradable which is also promoted by news Channels to educate people. This way not only counties will benefit but also the environment.

To conclude, lower level of recycling waste by people is not an issue of one country but it is affecting many countries worldwide and the environment as well. This can only be solved with proper steps from the government, companies and our individual efforts.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying reasons why people do not recycle—such as a lack of facilities, time constraints, and unawareness—and suggests solutions involving government and corporate collaboration. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and generalized. For instance, the mention of Japan's biodegradable newspapers is a relevant example, but the explanation of the causes could be extended further with more specific details. It successfully meets the core requirements of the task, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear chronological structure from introduction to body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate causes from solutions. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with phrases like 'The most appealing reason behind this trend' sounding slightly awkward in context. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression within the second body paragraph could be smoother. Overall, the organizational structure is adequate and follows a logical path, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'mitigation', 'bio-degradable', and 'collaboration'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'meterials' instead of materials, 'packegings' instead of packaging, and the phrase 'garbage any item' instead of 'discard any item'. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0 because of the frequency of minor inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'People from many countries are unable to recycle their waste and there are many reason behind this behaviour.' There are several grammatical errors present, including subject-verb agreement issues ('there are many reason', 'makes people to throw they garbage'), spelling/pronoun slips ('they garbage' instead of 'their garbage'), and article omission. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear and communication is rarely impeded, placing the essay comfortably at Band 6.0.
