In many countries, people do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could.

Why do you think this is?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, many people do not recycle their waste materials as much as they did in the past. Although there are significant causes behind this trend as people have busy schedule and may not aware about its consequences, a combination of individual´s responsibility and the government policy can help to adress this issue.

To begin with, there are several causes why human do not recycle their rubbish is that they have a busy schedule. Since competition in the business has increased, many people work hard and extra to get success in their work. Many employees do extra hours job not only to get extra money but also for promotion. As a result, people may not have extra time to concern about the rubbish and environment. For example, many companies have policy regarding of promotion, such as employees who work extra get higher position in a short period of time. Therefore, people have a busy schedule and may do not get enoough time to focus on the recycling. Another reason is some people do not have idea about consequences of waste. In many rural areas people are not aware about recycling process because they may not get enough education about how harmful the rubbish is.

Furthermore, although there are some significant steps to adress this phenomenon, the governemnt policies is the best way to mitigate this issue. This is because the higher authorities can encourage people to recycle their rubbish more. They can not only spread the awareness but also arrange some organic plans to recycle the rubbish. For instance, in the Canada, the government can provide money for recycling the paper and plastic. Consequently, people can do recycle their rubbish more frequently. In addition, it is also individual´s responsibility to recycle their rubbish for protecting the environment. Elder citizens can encourage their families and friends to do recycle their waste materials. In many indian families, the elder people can do regular recycle their rubbish. As a result, the younger generation can watch and follow their steps.

To conclude, even though a busy schedule and poor knowledge can stop people to do recycle their rubbish, a combination of the government policy and individual´s responsibility could encourage people to do more recycling their waste.
