Student answer (Band 6.5)

In many country, recycling has became an important way to reduce environment pollution. However, despite growing awarness of environment issues, many people still do not recycle as much as they could. This esaay will discuss the main reasons behind this problem and suggest effective solutions.

One of the primary reason is the lack of convenient recycling facilities. In may areas, recycling bins are either unavailable or located far from residential neighborhoods. As a result, people often choose the esaiest option and throw all their rubbish into one bin.Another major factor is a lack of public awarness.Although people may know that recycling is benificial, they often do not understand which materials can be recycle or how their actions contribute to proctecting the environment. For example,in some developing countries, recycling is rarely including in school programmes, learning childrens to how to recycle, how to segregate their rubbish befor throwing in to bins at early age.As a result they are not understand the importance of recycling and sustainblities.

To encourage more peolpe to recycle, government should make recycling easier and more rewarding .Providing seperate bins for paper, glass, metal and green rubbish(vegetable, fruits) in every community would remove practical barriers. In addition, nationwide awarness campaigns through schools,T.V. ,social media could educate citizen about the long-term benifits of recycling. Also Government should implement strong rules and regulation for waste management.Finacial insentives, such as offering discount on utility bills or introducing deposite-refund scheme for plastic, paper, glass could motivate people to change their mentality. When recycling becomes both convenient and beneficial, more individuals are likely to do participate.

In conclusion, insufficient facilities and limited public awarness are main resons why recycling rates remain low.By improving infrastrtucture, educating the public, and introducing attractive incentives, governments can encourage people to develop environmentally responsible habits and make recycling a natural part of everyday life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses both parts of the task by identifying reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could (such as a lack of convenient facilities and low public awareness) and providing practical solutions (such as improved infrastructure, educational campaigns, and financial incentives). The student's position is clear throughout, and the main ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as mentioning school programs and waste segregation. However, some arguments could be explored in slightly greater depth to reach higher band levels. Overall, all parts of the prompt are covered well, aligning closely with the Band 7 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing causes and solutions respectively, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used adequately to connect ideas, such as 'However', 'As a result', and 'In addition'. However, paragraphing and spacing occasionally lack proper punctuation conventions (e.g., missing spaces after periods and commas like 'In many country, recycling has became'), which makes the mechanical flow slightly clunky in places. Nevertheless, the logical structure remains clear, earning a solid Band 6.5 to 7.0, placed safely at 6.5 due to mechanical cohesion flaws.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'segregate', 'infrastructure', and 'sustainability'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'awarness' instead of 'awareness', 'benificial' instead of 'beneficial', 'esaiest' instead of 'easiest', and 'insentives' instead of 'incentives'. Furthermore, collocation and morphological errors appear, such as 'learning childrens to how to recycle' instead of 'teaching children how to recycle'. These lexical slips prevent the vocabulary score from reaching higher bands, positioning it firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct compound and conditional sentences such as 'When recycling becomes both convenient and beneficial, more individuals are likely to do participate.' However, frequent grammatical and punctuation errors occur throughout the text. Examples include singular/plural agreement errors ('In many country'), tense errors ('has became'), and awkward phrasing ('recycling is rarely including in school programmes'). Punctuation spacing errors are also prevalent. While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the grammar score from rising above Band 6.0.
