Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could, such as a lack of knowledge and inconvenience, and suggesting solutions like education, infrastructure, and financial incentives. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, lacking detailed elaboration or specific real-world examples. Furthermore, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 218 words compared to the minimum of 250 words. To reach a higher band, you need to expand further on your ideas with fully developed explanations and ensure you meet the required word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your essay demonstrates a clear overall structure with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and solutions, and a brief conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices to guide the reader through your points, such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. Paragraphing is also handled adequately, separating causes from solutions. However, some connections feel mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'cope this problem'. To improve your coherence and cohesion, aim for a smoother logical progression between sentences and a wider, more natural variety of linking words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary choice is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some topic-related words such as 'recycling', 'advertisements', and 'incentives', but there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'reaseons', 'wastage things', 'inconveinent', and 'recyclig'. Additionally, phrases like 'do not do recycle' and 'rewards people by giving them money' demonstrate restricted lexical control and repetition. To achieve a higher band, you should expand your vocabulary range, use less common lexical items with greater precision, and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You make use of a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside some basic complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader, such as tense and auxiliary verb misuse in 'they may be do not have' and 'people do not recycling'. Preposition and collocation errors are also present, as seen in 'cope this problem'. To lift your score in grammar, you need to use a wider variety of complex grammatical structures accurately and proofread your work carefully to eliminate basic structural errors.
