Student answer (Band 6.0)
In some nations, the mountain of waste has been steadily increasing due to less amount of recycle process of garbage. In my opinion, the main reason is that less information about the sorts of rubbish and lack of recycle process plant, however, this situtions may be tackled by both individuals and Government through equal contribution.
To begin with, the capacity of recylable garbages is reduced because people are unaware about the types of wastes, non-recyclable and recyclable waste, so that they mix with eachother, and after its hard to seperate manually. For insatance, in India like big country where housewives store all kitchen waste with all reuasble plastic bottles, therefore local garbage collectors may not able to do recycle properly. In addition, having less advanced infrastructure for recycling daily waste where all process are done by local workers and without any safety precaution. This affects their physical and mental health negatively. Therefore, the rate of recycle is declined day by day.
However, these situations can be resolved through the equal contribution of both individuals and the government. While governments have the responsibility to introduce effective policies, provide necessary resources, and raise public awareness, individuals should also play an active role by adopting responsible behaviours and supporting these initiatives. When both sides work together, they can address the problem more effectively and create long-term positive changes in society.
In conclsion, although the increasing amount of waste is mainly caused by a lack of public awareness about waste separation and insufficient recycling infrastructure, this issue can be effectively addressed when both individuals and governments make equal contributions. By improving public knowledge, providing better recycling facilities, and encouraging responsible waste management, the amount of waste can be reduced significantly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by exploring the reasons why people fail to recycle adequately and offering viable solutions. The writer presents a clear position throughout the essay. Ideas are generally relevant, covering public unawareness and the lack of proper facilities, followed by individual and governmental measures. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or supported with sweeping generalisations rather than fully elaborated examples, such as the mention of India. This places the response comfortably in the middle band, where the task is sufficiently covered, but the depth of extension prevents it from reaching a higher level of fully developed support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from causes in the body paragraphs to solutions. Paragraphing is used appropriately, dividing the introduction, body points, and conclusion distinctly. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as "To begin with," "However," and "In conclusion," though referencing is sometimes slightly mechanical or repetitive in transitions. While the logical flow is clear enough to guide the reader successfully through the arguments, the occasional awkward connection keeps the essay at this level, as it lacks the more flexible and skilful cohesion required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common items such as "infrastructure," "reusable," and "precaution." However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and form throughout the response, such as "less amount of recycle process," "recylable garbages," and the misspelling "situtions" and "conclsion." These lexical errors and awkward phrasings do not completely impede communication, allowing the reader to grasp the intended meaning, but the frequency of restricted collocations and stylistic slips prevents the response from achieving a higher vocabulary band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to vary grammatical structures with clauses introduced by "while" and "when." There are, however, some recurring errors in grammar and punctuation, including issues with articles, singular and plural agreement (e.g., "sorts of rubbish and lack of recycle process plant"), and awkward prepositional or verbal structures (e.g., "after its hard to seperate manually"). Despite these non-systematic errors, they rarely impede communication. The control over grammar represents a mixed capability, combining some successful complex formations with frequent minor slips that preclude a higher grammatical rating.
