Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many states, individuals do not recycle their rubbish as as much as they could and I think that people do not have proper knowledge about how to dispose these rubbish and due to bad disposal system in some states. This essay discuss the reasons of this behavior and also mention what people should do to change this behavior.

First of all, I think that people do not have proper knowledge about how to recycle the waste products and also because of poor disposal system in many areas. Moreover, mostly people throw garbage in open dumbs not in dust bins like plastic bags, bottles and glass jar freely. In addition to this majority of people do not have idea about how much they are contributing in pollution in environment. For example, according to a recent survey in the Asian countries, the rate of pollution is increasing day by day due to the poor disposal system of wastes. As a result of this, people do not prefer to dispose waste properly.

Furthermore, there are possibilities to bring changes in a poor attitude towards recycling. One of the main significant factors which should be considered like give proper awareness to people about the steps of recycling through webinars, seminars and certain types of pamphlets. Additionally, the government should improve the disposal system to increase the compliance of people towards recycling. For instance, in some developed countries, government has announce that they should be paid for recycling water bottles. So it encourages the people for recycling.

In conclusion, I think that lack of awareness and poor system of disposal results in poor compliance towards the recycling. Thus the government should spread awareness and improve their removal system of waste to increase the recycling of rubbish.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question and maintain a clear position: limited knowledge and inadequate waste systems explain low recycling, while public education and government improvements are proposed as solutions. The examples of littering and a bottle-return payment scheme help make the discussion relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the survey about rising pollution does not clearly show why people choose not to recycle, and the bottle example would be stronger if you explained how the payment changes behaviour. To develop the response further, connect each cause directly to low recycling and explain how each proposed measure would address it. This would make the ideas more consistently extended and supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” make the stages easy to follow. The main progression is logical, but some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As a result of this” does not clearly follow from the pollution survey, and the relationship between poor disposal systems and people’s choices could be made more explicit. The introduction also repeats the task’s wording before outlining the essay. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the cause-and-effect links within paragraphs more precise; this would make cohesion more flexible and the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “recycle,” “pollution,” “disposal system,” “awareness,” and “compliance.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “contributing in pollution” and “bring changes in a poor attitude,” but these combinations are not natural and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Other noticeable choices include “open dumbs” and “removal system of waste”; more accurate terms would help the reader understand your points immediately. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but repeated use of “people,” “poor,” and “system” limits flexibility. Build accuracy with common environmental collocations and vary repeated words, checking spelling and word forms as you revise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result of this” and a conditional idea in “if they should be paid.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “This essay discuss” needs subject–verb agreement, while “people do not have proper knowledge about how to dispose these rubbish” has problems with the verb pattern and determiner. The opening also contains a repeated “as,” and “government has announce” uses an incorrect verb form. Practise agreement, articles and determiners, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence for these patterns. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
