Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, recycling is an important way to protect heir environment. However,in many countries, people do not do recycling and there can be different reasons for it. This essay will discuss the main reasons for this problem and suggest some possible solutions.
There are several reasons for why people do not recycle.Firstly, people lack awareness about the need of recycling. Most of the people do not know that how paper, plastic and bottles can be recycled to make new things. Furthermore, the facilities provided by government for recycling are not adequate. Either there are no proper bins alloacted for different types of waste or there are no bins at all or the recycling facilities are so far away that people do not like to take the pain. So,people end up throwing the garbage in the same bin that is available. Also, the govenments are not offering any incentives to the public for throwing th garbage in proper bins.
There are a plenty of ways ,that can help in making people aware of the benfits of recycling.Firstly, there should be proper addvertising by the government to create awareness about the need of recycling and what should be done. Then, the government should install proper bins for food and plastic disposal in all public places or they can offer incentives to people for depositing the recycleable items in designated places and getting some money in return. Also, schools should take part in instilling the cocept of recycling among their students.
In conclusion, if these steps are taken then there will be substantial decrease in overall waste and the recycling industry will grow that will not only benefit the enviromment but also the people .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies limited awareness, inadequate recycling facilities and a lack of incentives as reasons, then proposes advertising, more bins, rewards and school education. These are relevant and the position is clear. The explanation of facilities is the most developed, with examples such as bins being absent or too far away; by contrast, the point about incentives is only briefly stated, and the proposed school role is not explained in much detail. The conclusion gives a relevant outcome but mostly repeats the benefits rather than drawing the solutions together. To strengthen the response further, explain how each measure would change people’s behaviour and support at least one proposal with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph proposing solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” “Also” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. Some linking is a little mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Firstly” and “Also,” and the causes paragraph contains several points in a long sequence. The relationship between the lack of facilities and people using the same bin is understandable, but could be expressed more smoothly. Grouping related points and varying transitions—for example, using “As a result” to show consequence—would make the cohesion more flexible and natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough topic vocabulary to discuss recycling, including “facilities,” “incentives,” “designated places” and “recycling industry.” However, the range is limited in places, with repeated use of “government,” “people” and “recycling,” and several inaccurate or misspelled forms reduce precision. Examples include “heir environment,” “alloacted,” “govenments,” “benfits,” “addvertising,” “recycleable” and “enviromment.” Some phrases are also awkward, such as “do recycling” and “take the pain.” These errors do not prevent the main ideas from being understood, but more accurate collocations and careful spelling would improve clarity. Aim to use precise alternatives such as “recycle household waste” and “make the effort.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “facilities ... that are so far away” and a conditional structure in “if these steps are taken.” The main message remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Most of the people do not know that how” has an unnecessary “that,” while “There are a plenty of ways” uses an incorrect article construction. The sentence beginning “Either there are no proper bins” is not well formed as a list, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent, especially around commas and full stops. Work on articles, clause structure and sentence boundaries, and proofread punctuation. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make the argument easier to read.
