Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely believed that people do not recycle their garbage in several countries because of laziness and lack of knowledge.
People do not recycle their rubbish as they think it is quite complicated process. In this contemporary era, individuals are quite busy in their life that they do not have enought time to think about recycling. It is accessible for them to use new things such as paper cups, rubber and many more every single time. For instance, people are using paper cups for their drinks beacuse it is very convenient for them to use and throw rather than having their own cup. Moreover, this is the case of not having enough knowledge about it. Some people do not have any idea that how much signicant impact it has on our environment.
In resolving this issue, government plays a crucial role. Firstly, authorities should implement strict rules and regulation to recycle the litter as much they can. There should be action against the people who do not follow these rules. Secondly, government should arrange some campaigns and awareness about recycling and how it creates a signicant effect on our environment through which each and every citizen of the country get deep knowledge regarding how to recycle and what things to recycle. Finally, it is the duty of every citizen to encourage their collegues, friends and family to recycle.
Although it is a matter of concern if people do not recycle their rubbish, it can resolved with proper guidance and strict regulations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies perceived inconvenience, busy lifestyles and limited awareness as reasons, then proposes regulation, public campaigns and personal encouragement. The position is clear, and the paper-cup example helps illustrate convenience as a cause. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The explanation of limited knowledge stops at saying people do not understand recycling’s environmental impact; a specific consequence or example would make this more convincing. The proposed rules and campaigns are relevant, but their practical operation and likely effect are not explained. To strengthen the response, extend each main point with a concrete example or a brief explanation of how it would change behaviour.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement: an opening statement, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph offering solutions, and a concluding sentence. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “Finally” make the solutions easy to follow, while “Moreover” signals an additional cause. Some cohesion is nevertheless mechanical, particularly the repeated list structure in the solutions paragraph. The link between the opening claim about laziness and the later discussion of convenience could also be made more explicit. In addition, “through which” in the campaign sentence has an unclear reference, making the relationship between campaigns and gaining knowledge less smooth. Use clearer links and vary how ideas are connected to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “recycle,” “awareness,” “regulations” and “environment,” and attempts more formal expressions such as “plays a crucial role.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which keeps expression from being consistently precise. For example, “accessible for them to use new things” does not clearly express that disposable products are convenient, and “arrange some campaigns and awareness” is not a natural combination. Spelling errors such as “enought,” “beacuse,” “signicant” and “collegues” are noticeable. Build a wider set of accurate recycling-related collocations and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is some variety in sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “as” and “that,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, control is uneven, with errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “it is quite complicated process” needs an article, and “individuals are quite busy in their life” has a number-agreement problem. The phrase “how much signicant impact it has” also has an incorrect structure, while “it can resolved” is missing an auxiliary verb. The long sentence beginning “Secondly” is difficult to manage and ends with an unclear clause. Practise accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for complete verb forms and agreement.
