Student answer (Band 5.5)

One of the major challenges facing in our society is increasing rate of pollution. The government and othe responsible authorities are taking initiviates to control. Unfortunately, they are unable to find the solution. There are many reasons which are threat to the environment and of the underrated issue is lack of proper garbage disposal or we can say recycing the objects.

To begin with, many people are totally anware of the thought that they can recycle the products which are commonly used in the household. Lack of knowledge is one of the biggest challenge. Moreover, increasing the usage of plastics is also very common in our country, because it is more cheaper and easily available in the market. For example, in my neighbourhood the grocery stores are keeping plastic bags for free to carry the fruits and other household items. In the result, people are more using plastic bags instead of purchasing any recycle bags.

It is a concering issue where we should all corporate with the government and take actions to protect our nature. Furthermore, conducting campaging for using eco-friendly products will be good initiatives. Moreover, social media would be a better platform for generating awareness and the harmeful effects which are impacting to our health. For instance, schools and other educational instituions should teach the younger generations about the concequiences we are currently facing and mindfully we can act to protect our future and the mother nature.

In conclusion, its a collective effort where eveyone's participation is much required to bring a change in the society. People should understand the importance the recycle the waste is very important and using the products which are resusable is also a good decision.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you identify limited awareness and the convenience of cheap plastic as reasons, then suggest education, eco-friendly campaigns and social-media awareness. The neighbourhood grocery-store example helps make the plastic-bag point relevant. However, some ideas are less fully explained than others. For instance, you mention that people lack knowledge but do not specify what they misunderstand or how that leads them not to recycle. The proposed campaigns and school lessons are relevant, but their likely effect is not developed. The opening also refers broadly to pollution and authorities’ inability to find a solution, rather than directly establishing the essay’s focus. Explain the causes and show more clearly how each proposed measure would change recycling behaviour.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have clear central purposes, and examples are placed alongside the relevant points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by mechanical linking, especially the repeated use of “Moreover” and “Furthermore.” Some connections are also unclear: “In the result” does not smoothly introduce the consequence of free plastic bags, and the final paragraph repeats the importance of recycling without adding a distinct concluding insight. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make the relationship between each claim, explanation and example explicit. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow how the proposed actions address the causes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “garbage disposal,” “eco-friendly products,” “generating awareness” and “reusable,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general wording and noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors. Examples include “anware,” “recycing,” “campaging,” “consequiences” and “instituions”; these can distract the reader. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “increasing the usage of plastics” and “people are more using plastic bags.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “greater use of plastic” and “people rely more on plastic bags.” Proofread spelling carefully and choose precise terms for recycling practices, waste and public education.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a relative clause in “products which are commonly used in the household.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb patterns occur across the response. For example, “One of the major challenges facing in our society is increasing rate” has an incomplete construction and missing article, while “Lack of knowledge is one of the biggest challenge” has a number-agreement error. “People should understand the importance the recycle the waste is very important” is difficult to follow because the clause structure is faulty. Practise building complete sentences around one main idea, check singular and plural forms, and review articles and verb patterns before submitting.
