Student answer (Band 5.5)

Among wide range of countries, it has been identified that it is a common practice among people that they do not recycle the garbage as much as they should. People tend to keep there houses clean and dispose of waste on time for the sake of their health, but forget to put it up for recycling which is also important for their health.

People know how much important it is to recycle waste but still since there is no one to actually make them do it, they become comfortable and relaxed to just let it go.If compared with other countries the Asian countires might take up the lead in not being able to be responsible citizensi matter of waste disposal and taking steps to put it up for recycling. Where as in many Countries Like America or Germany it has made madatory to dispose it off otherwise citizens have to pay fine for it which i beieve should be implied all over the World.

If certain rules and regulations become mandatory by the government to follow these issues might get resolved. Moreover it should be taught in every School, College and in Univeristy, the importance fo waste recyclement and the disadvantages it can cause so the poeple living in the Country become more responsible on thier own, rather than the government trying to teach it through strickness or penalities.

In conclusion I firmly beleieve that it has quite a negative impact on health and enviornment if we do not take up the proper measures to overcome this issue with proper seminars and Government implimentaion of certain rules and regulations

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you suggest that people lack enforcement and become “comfortable and relaxed,” then propose government rules, school education, seminars and penalties. Your position—that recycling should be encouraged through both regulation and education—is clear. These are relevant ideas, but some are less fully explained than others. For example, you mention that people “forget” to recycle, yet do not explore practical reasons such as inconvenient collection points or uncertainty about sorting. The comparison between Asian countries and America or Germany is also broad and unsupported, so it does not convincingly develop the explanation. To strengthen the response, explain the causes more specifically and support each proposed solution with a clear example of how it would change behaviour.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs discussing causes and solutions, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some connections feel mechanical. The second paragraph moves from lack of enforcement to a general comparison between regions without explaining the link between these points. The conclusion repeats the need for measures but does not clearly summarise the main causes and solutions. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as in “these issues” and “it” in the discussion of mandatory disposal. Group each cause and its explanation together, then present the solutions in a clear sequence, using more precise references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycle,” “waste disposal,” “rules and regulations,” “penalties,” and “environment,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “mandatory” and “responsible citizens.” This gives you enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “put it up for recycling,” “waste recyclement,” and “government implimentaion” are examples. There are also repeated general terms such as “issues” and “important.” Aim for standard topic collocations, such as “sort household waste,” “recycling facilities,” and “enforce recycling requirements,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your argument clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If certain rules and regulations become mandatory … these issues might get resolved.” The main message is generally understandable, but grammatical control is uneven, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “People know how much important it is” has an incorrect structure, while “Where as in many Countries…” is an incomplete sentence fragment. The opening sentence is also awkwardly constructed, and missing spaces after full stops, as in “go.If,” affect readability. Practise building complete sentences around one main idea, and check clause boundaries, articles, prepositions and punctuation. Greater accuracy in these areas would make your range of structures more effective.
