Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, in many countries, people do not send their waste for recycling. There can be multiple factors behind this behviour such as lack of information, and limited recycling resources. Some seroius steps can be taken to face this issue which will be further discused in the paragraph.

Firstly, many countries do not have effecient and reliable sources of garbage recycling due to which rubbish cannot be reprocessed instead thrown on road sides and dumpyards. For example, in many countries like India, people do not recycle their rubbish becuase of scarcity of recycling plants thus, people are sending that material to garbage yards instead of recycling. Another possible reason could be the lack of information, people do not have enough knowlegde about recycling and how it is affecting well-being of all living beings.

To handle this issue, multiple steps can be taken by the government such as constructing treatment plants and make proper rules and regulations for garbage collection. Further, strict fines should be imposed for not recycling the required rubbish. For example, countries like Canada have strict rules for garbage collection and recycling. Furthermore, planned actions such as campaigns and seminars should be arranged to make people aware about the process and advantages of recycling and encourage them to do as much as they can.

In conclusion, because of lack of awareness and knowledge regarding the importance and advantages of recyling the rubbish people are not doing it as much as they could. To tackle this problem, government should take possible measures to make people aware about this problem and encourage them to support the process of recycling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question: you identify limited recycling facilities and lack of public knowledge as causes, then suggest treatment plants, rules, fines, and awareness campaigns. The examples of India and Canada help make the response relevant, and your overall position is clear. The explanation of infrastructure is more developed than the point about awareness, which is stated broadly without showing why people lack knowledge or how this affects their choices. The proposed fines and regulations would also benefit from explanation of how they could be enforced or encourage recycling. This covers the task effectively, but fuller development and more specific support for each main idea would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to causes, solutions, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “To handle this issue,” and “In conclusion” make the stages easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical, and the opening promises that the issue will be discussed “in the paragraph,” which does not accurately describe the essay’s structure. The sentence beginning “Another possible reason” joins two ideas with a comma, making the relationship less clear. There is also some repetition of “lack of information,” “aware,” and “recycling” across the response. More varied linking and clearer connections between claims and examples would strengthen the progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to explain the issue, including “reprocessed,” “scarcity,” “regulations,” and “imposed,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts to use more formal language, such as “tackle this problem.” However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “behviour,” “effecient,” “knowlegde,” and “recyling,” and some word choices or combinations are unnatural. For example, “sources of garbage recycling” is unclear, while “face this issue” and “required rubbish” are not the most natural expressions in context. These inaccuracies limit precision and control. Aim for accurate spelling and familiar collocations, and choose vocabulary that expresses the intended meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures such as “due to which rubbish cannot be reprocessed” and a sentence explaining how campaigns could encourage people to recycle. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors reduce accuracy. In “constructing treatment plants and make proper rules,” the verb forms are not parallel; use “constructing … and making …” or “construct … and make …”. The sentence “Another possible reason could be the lack of information, people do not have enough knowledge…” is a comma splice and should be divided or joined with a suitable connector. There are also occasional article and sentence-boundary issues. Greater control of parallel structures and punctuation would improve accuracy while preserving your range.
