Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, in most parts of the world, recycling garbage has become an major issue, becase of lack of space, and unproper waste management, and the higher cost ,while it could be solved by govenment involvement and proper education. This essay will discuss about above mentioned reasons and solutions.

The first and most compelling reason is that people are not concerned about recycling is lack of space. Eventhough there are several methods, which rubbish such as household daily produced waste can be disposed, lack of space concers most. For instance, for major crowd who are living in apartments cannot even keep a compost bin because they do not have enough place in their gardens. Another reason is the unproper management. If the authorities could manage a system to collect waste items seperately, they could be directed in to suitable places for reuse or recycle. In well developed, wealthy countries, most of reusable plastic and glass waste are collected for resue, which saves the production costs .consequently, effects on the economy. Moreover, most of countries are unable to afford the high cost of the machines and equipments using for recycling, becasuse they have to focus on major problem in their countries such as education and health. For instance, in developing coutries, goverments are planning projects on recycling, but the cannot overcome them without proper fundings.

However, this problem can be tackeled for some extend if actions taken wisely. Government involevement could be effected , because, some authorites can provide common areas with seperated waste bins, which people in urban areas can use. This will reduce the the cost and time which will have to spend on workers to seperate waste, and they can direct usable waste items to factories or places which need them. Furthermore, by providing education, people can gain knowledge to reuse items. For example, most of glass bottles and polethene bags are usable, if people have the knowledge how to use them. Most of jam and cordial factories collect glass bottles and use them after sterilising reduce a huge cost, and environment friendly. If this can be started from schools, even younger generation will get a good understanding, so they would involve in this when the become adults.

In conclusion, eventhough most countries do not focus on proper rubbish recycling process due to unproper management and space related problems, and also because of the high cost on machines, this is still a matter which can be sort out by government involvement and providing education behalf of this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus: you identify limited space, weak waste collection, and the cost of recycling equipment, then propose public bins, government action, and education. The examples about apartment residents and factories reusing glass bottles help make the points concrete. This meets the task well, and the range of relevant ideas shows some development beyond a basic response. However, the space issue is not fully explained as a cause of low recycling, and the discussion of equipment costs shifts partly to countries’ wider priorities without showing how this affects household recycling. Develop each cause-and-solution link more explicitly and support the less-developed points with precise explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Another reason,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” help identify the progression. However, some linking is mechanical, and connections between ideas are occasionally unclear. For example, the sentence about collected plastic and glass saving production costs is followed by “consequently, effects on the economy,” which does not clearly state the relationship. The conclusion also repeats the causes and solutions rather than synthesising them. Use fewer formulaic transitions, make references between sentences explicit, and ensure each paragraph develops one clear line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “waste management,” “compost bin,” “reusable,” “sterilising,” and “government involvement.” These choices show an attempt to discuss recycling with some specificity. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “unproper management,” “resue,” “fundings,” and “machines and equipments” are examples. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “major crowd” and “effects on the economy.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding more difficult words; proofreading spelling and checking whether nouns are countable will also improve clarity. Your meaning is usually recoverable, but more consistent control is needed for flexible and precise expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “If the authorities could manage a system…” and a longer sentence beginning “If this can be started from schools.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, verb patterns, and sentence construction. For example, “an major issue” has an article error, “the cannot overcome them” lacks a clear subject, and “which will have to spend on workers” has an incomplete verb pattern. Punctuation also creates awkward breaks, as in “costs .consequently.” Review sentence boundaries and check each clause for a clear subject and correctly formed verb; this will make your complex sentences more controlled.
