Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that in several countries, individuals leave their waste unrecycled as much as they desire. As far as i am concerned, i diasgree with this statement for several reasons, because it is not environmentally friendly as well as it may damage our soil, water and air.

One main reason why i diagree with that fact is that delaying the recycle of your trash might lead to the increase in the rate of pollution which can affect deely our land and atmosphere as a whole. As a result, our biodiverity and ecosystem will be deteriorating progressively. for example, the pile of garbage left there for a long period my cause a bad smell also after a while it will causes serious illnesses to the citizens of that area. That's why, people have to preserve our nature through vital actions like recycling, reducing and others.

Another main reason is that postponing the recycle of litters is considered unenvironmentally friendly, because those deeds may destruct our fauna and flora, moreover, some species may lose their habitats due to that facts. For instance, when persons don't recycle their rubbish, like bottle of water, papers.. they will need more of those items and companies will hurry to afford those urgent unecessary needs by cutting down trees and using others methods.

In conculsion, i firmly believe that individuals need to recycle their waste to help protect our environment and preserve the human well-being as a whole because our mother earth need our quintessentiel actions to breathe.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response is only minimally aligned with the question because it takes a position on whether people should recycle rather than explaining why people currently recycle less than they could and what practical changes would improve this. The two body paragraphs mainly describe environmental harms, such as pollution and habitat loss, and the conclusion repeats that people need to recycle. These points are relevant background, but they do not answer the task’s two central questions. The example about companies cutting down trees begins to suggest a consequence of low recycling, yet it does not explain the causes or propose a clear solution. To strengthen the response, identify specific barriers, such as inconvenient collection or lack of awareness, then give feasible measures and explain how they would help.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “One main reason” and “Another main reason,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through the ideas. However, progression is limited because both body paragraphs largely repeat the same environmental argument instead of developing separate answers to the task’s questions. Some links are mechanical or unclear: “As a result” introduces a consequence, while “That's why” shifts to a recommendation without explaining it fully. The example in the second paragraph is also difficult to follow. Organise the body around distinct causes and solutions, and use clearer links that show how each example supports its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response attempts topic-related vocabulary, including “pollution,” “biodiversity,” “ecosystem,” “habitats,” and “preserve,” and these choices show some range beyond basic everyday language. However, inaccurate word choice, spelling, and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “the recycle of your trash,” “unenvironmentally friendly,” “afford those urgent unnecessary needs,” and “quintessentiel actions.” Several spellings are also incorrect, such as “biodiverity,” “conculsion,” and “deely.” Aim for natural, precise phrases such as “recycling waste,” “environmentally harmful,” and “meet demand.” Proofreading spelling and checking how words combine would make the ideas clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “which.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, verb forms, and punctuation occur across the response. For example, “it will causes” has an incorrect verb form, and “our mother earth need” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “for example, the pile of garbage…” runs several ideas together, with missing punctuation and an unclear structure. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “i” and the lowercase “for example” after a full stop. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas carefully and check agreement and punctuation.
