Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your situation, stating your intention to defer, and asking for advice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention volunteering at a temple, the explanation of why this prevents you from attending evening classes could be more clearly linked to your schedule. To reach a higher band, ensure that your reasons are fully elaborated and that the letter follows a standard formal structure, including a clear opening and closing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is generally coherent, and the progression of ideas is logical. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'If you can help me'. However, the paragraphing is not standard for a formal letter, and there is a lack of variety in linking words. Some sentences are run-on, such as the one beginning 'I am doing work in the day time...', which makes the flow feel a bit mechanical. Improving your use of transition words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would improve the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'enrolment', 'volunteer', and 'tackle this problem'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'I am doing work' instead of 'I am working' and 'I am very appreciated your help' instead of 'I would greatly appreciate your help'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and formal expressions used in business correspondence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., 'i' should always be capitalized, and there are missing commas). The sentence structure is often repetitive, and some sentences are grammatically incomplete or incorrectly joined. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for capitalization and punctuation will significantly improve your score.
