Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I got admission in a course in your school and I started my study as well, however timing of the lecture was not suitable for me. I am writing this letter to request you that kindly shift my course for the next term or advice me the best solution.
Firstly, staff was really professional as well as friendly. I was enjoying my classes yet I am unable to continue due to lack of time. There are several tasks which I need to perform in evening including personal work.
However, I liked the education system there. mentors helped not only in physical rooms but also in online classes. The material of study was incredible with helped me to enhance my knowledge.
I am waiting for your suggestion that how I can handle this situation because I strongly interested in this course.
Thank you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Sachin

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your situation, stating your desired outcome, and asking for advice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, you mention being 'too busy' but the explanation remains vague ('personal work'). To improve, you could provide slightly more specific details about your schedule to make your situation more convincing. Despite this, the purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader understands exactly what you are requesting. You have successfully met the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', and 'not only... but also' to connect your ideas. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel a bit mechanical. For example, the jump between discussing staff professionalism and your personal schedule could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes slightly awkward, such as in the sentence 'The material of study was incredible with helped me', where the connection between clauses is unclear. Overall, the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. You use some appropriate phrases like 'incredible', 'professional', and 'enhance my knowledge'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, you wrote 'I got admission in a course' instead of 'I enrolled in a course', and 'shift my course' is slightly informal for this context. You also have a minor error with 'with helped me', which should be 'which helped me'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring your word choices are consistently formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips throughout the text. For instance, 'timing of the lecture was not suitable' should be 'the timing of the lectures was not suitable', and 'I strongly interested' is missing the verb 'am'. There are also minor issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'in evening' instead of 'in the evening'. Despite these errors, they do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the inclusion of necessary auxiliary verbs.
