Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly explain the conflict between your work schedule and the evening classes, state your desire to defer to the next term, and request advice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. To improve, ensure that your ideas are fully developed; for instance, you could briefly mention the specific nature of the 'heavy workload' to make your situation more convincing. Overall, the purpose of the letter is clear and the requirements are met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an appropriate opening and closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition to', and 'Due to this reason' to connect your ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or grammatically awkward, such as 'In addition to, if you can shift...'. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother. The referencing is generally clear, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'enrolled', 'scheduled', and 'workload'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'doing job with study' (should be 'balancing work and study') and 'give me a advice' (advice is uncountable). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and the correct usage of uncountable nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'regarding to take' (regarding taking), 'I am not able to my studies' (missing verb 'continue'), and 'what should I can do' (double modal). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, pay closer attention to verb patterns and sentence construction. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will help you achieve a higher score.
