Overall6.5

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: explaining the situation, stating your intention to defer, and asking for advice. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding your part-time job is clear, but the request for advice is slightly vague, as you ask for 'any idea' without specifying what kind of administrative or financial support you are seeking. To improve, ensure your tone remains consistently formal throughout, and provide more specific details regarding the course deferral process to better meet the requirements of a formal letter.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, 'In this reason' is not a standard collocation, and the transition between the explanation of your job and your request for advice feels abrupt. While the overall progression is clear, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in light of this' to connect your ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your situation clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'enrollment,' 'assignments,' and 'utility bills.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard phrasing, such as 'Upgrate' (upgrade), 'Tenant' (rent), and 'this is my one of the favourite course.' These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more formal, academic, or professional collocations would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses, articles, and prepositions (e.g., 'I am enroll' instead of 'I am enrolled,' 'in next term' instead of 'next term'). Additionally, there are issues with sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the run-on sentence in the first paragraph. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement.
