Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explain the situation regarding your office timings, state your intention to rejoin the course in the next term, and ask relevant questions about the transfer procedure and potential fees. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanation of why you cannot continue is more concise and focused, as the mention of being a 'brilliant student' and your specific skills in encryption is slightly irrelevant to the core task of requesting a deferral.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'that's why' to link your ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. To improve, try to vary your cohesive devices further and ensure that the transition between your personal skills and the request for advice is smoother, as the current connection feels slightly abrupt.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'enrollment', 'procedure', and 'favorably'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'request you for shifting' (should be 'request to shift') and 'I am recently get enrolled' (should be 'I recently enrolled'). While these do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over verb forms and prepositional phrases to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and auxiliary verbs, such as 'I am recently get enrolled' and 'I am writing this letter to request you for shifting'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on mastering the present perfect tense for recent actions and refining your use of infinitives after verbs like 'request'.
