Dear Sir,

I hope you find this letter in good spirits.

I am indeed sorry to inform you that I will have to postpone the course (Computer basic skills CS3367) for this term as my uncle comes across a serious health situation and as I live with him it is my responsibility to look after him.

I took a long time to think to my change my decision but I could not as I am going to move to the hospital with my uncle to look after for a month until my parents show up. Therefore, it will be not possible for me to travel as the hospital is located outside.

Please consider my urgent request to let me know that how I can procced ahead to follow-up register process for the next term. Moreover, I will be grateful if you suggest any better plan which is available for me.

I look forward to talking to you soon.

Best regards,

Kishan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain the situation regarding your uncle's health, state your intention to postpone the course to the next term, and ask for advice on the registration process. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that the explanation of the situation is slightly more concise to allow for more detailed development of the request for advice, as the current explanation is a bit repetitive regarding the hospital stay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Therefore' and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the progression between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical. For example, the transition in the second paragraph could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some phrasing, such as 'I took a long time to think to my change my decision', disrupts the flow of the argument. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'postpone the course' and 'urgent request'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'comes across a serious health situation' (should be 'has encountered' or 'is facing') and 'look after for a month' (the 'for' is unnecessary). Additionally, there is a spelling error in 'procced'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over common collocations to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For instance, 'I took a long time to think to my change my decision' contains redundant words and incorrect structure. 'It will be not possible' should be 'it will not be possible'. There are also minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'let me know that how I can'. To improve, focus on sentence construction and word order, as these errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable, even if they do not prevent understanding.
