Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained your situation regarding your work schedule, stated your desire to defer to the next term, and asked for advice regarding the possibility of evening classes. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, your request to add a French course is slightly off-topic as it does not directly relate to the problem of being too busy to continue the current English course. To improve, ensure all ideas are strictly relevant to the core request of deferring your studies due to time constraints.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of your request. You use some cohesive devices like 'At the outset', 'Furthermore', and 'Nevertheless' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural in context. For instance, 'Nevertheless' is used to introduce a suggestion rather than a contrast. Additionally, the flow between sentences could be smoother; some transitions feel abrupt. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help you achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate your message, such as 'administrative assistant', 'hectic schedule', and 'in-demand'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'would be liked to shifted' (should be 'would like to shift') and 'enhance my productive' (should be 'enhance my productivity'). These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'apologise you' (should be 'apologise to you'), 'I don't able to' (should be 'I am not able to'), and 'working hours of jobs is' (should be 'working hours are'). These errors are noticeable and occur in basic sentence constructions. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and the proper formation of modal verbs. Increasing your accuracy in these fundamental areas will significantly improve your score.
