Student answer (Band 6.0)
I am writing to request permission to postpone my evening course until next term because. I am currently unable to continue attending the classes
Recently , my workload has increased significantly as i have been assigned additional responsibilities at my workplace. since i work full time, I often have to stay late, and by the time i finish , it is impossible for me to attend evening online lessons regularly. also i very high motivated to complete the course this term , my unpredictable schedule has made it extra difficulty to balance both my professional and academical education.
Instead of withdrawing from the programme completely i , would like to defer my enrolment and joint the same course next term . I am genuinely interested in completing it, and i believe postponing it for a few months will allow me to participate full and achieve better result . i know it not possible to stop classes because of other student are already mid stage it attende
Could you please let me know whether it is possible to transfer my registration and tuition fee to the transfer my registration fee and also includ tuition to the next term other part of that . if there are alternative options , such as attending online classes or making up missing lecture , i would be grateful to here about them as well.
Thank you for your understanding. I will be happy look forward to you reply.
Yours faithfully,
Heri

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain the situation regarding your increased workload, state your intention to defer the course to the next term, and ask for advice on the administrative process. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, some ideas are slightly underdeveloped or expressed with minor confusion, such as the sentence regarding other students being at a 'mid stage'. To reach a higher band, ensure that all explanations are fully coherent and directly address the reader's likely perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices like 'Instead of', 'However', and 'Therefore' (implied), though the flow is occasionally interrupted by punctuation errors and awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition between the explanation of your workload and your request to defer could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the situation, the request, and the closing. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are fragmented, which slightly affects the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'postpone', 'enrolment', and 'unpredictable schedule'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and incorrect word forms, such as 'academical education' (should be 'academic'), 'extra difficulty' (should be 'extra difficult'), and 'participate full' (should be 'fully'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision in your word usage. Expanding your range of collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization (e.g., 'i'), and sentence construction. Examples include 'because. I am', 'also i very high motivated', and 'it not possible'. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these grammatical slips prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization will significantly improve your accuracy.
