Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: explaining the situation, stating the desired action, and asking for advice. However, the task is under the 150-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. The explanation of the work situation is somewhat repetitive, and the transition to the request for the accounting course is abrupt and lacks clarity regarding the original course enrollment. To improve, ensure you meet the word count requirement to allow for more thorough development of your points and provide a clearer connection between your current circumstances and your proposed solution.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'To begin with' followed by a confusing explanation. The logical progression between the work situation and the request to switch courses is weak, making the flow feel disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when referring to the course. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions smoothly to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'working person' instead of 'employee' and 'outer responsibility' instead of 'additional duties'. There are also spelling errors like 'camputer' and 'accountant' (when referring to an accounting course). The range of vocabulary is sufficient for basic communication but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to professional correspondence and proofread carefully to avoid basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'I am writing to express my situation about course that I recently enroll in' (missing articles and incorrect verb tense) and 'I look forward to hear' (should be 'hearing'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, article usage, and verb patterns (e.g., 'look forward to -ing').
