Student answer (Band 6.0)
dear sir/madam,
I hope you are doing well. My name is Monil and I joined in an evening batch of Autocad software learning course. Here I write a letter to inform you that due to my hectic schedule at workplace can i join future batch instead of this one and also need some guidance from you.
I am full-time employee at ABC company as a design engineer. currently we are running huge workload due to many projects are pending and delay because of these I have to do overtime to meet the deadline. Because of all these reasons I may not be able to join and concentrate on the course. This course is very important for my future growth and also better commanding on the software. I like about this course is that i can learn from scratch to expertise level however i knew basic commanding of the software but all we know that every person do not know everything.
as I told you I need some guidance from you at beginning of the letter is that in this situation can you show better pathway what can i do to rid of this?
thank you for your support and i will wait for you reply
your faithfully,
Monil

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: explaining the situation, stating your intention to postpone, and asking for advice. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding your workload and the importance of the course. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the prompt without restating the same information. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader understands exactly what you are requesting, which satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as 'as I told you I need some guidance from you at beginning of the letter'. The transition between ideas could be smoother; for instance, the connection between your current workload and your request for advice is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is clear would help elevate the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'hectic schedule', 'design engineer', and 'from scratch to expertise level'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'better commanding on the software' instead of 'better command of the software' and 'rid of this' instead of 'resolve this'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and idiomatic expressions to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
Your writing shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include missing articles ('at workplace'), incorrect verb forms ('I joined in an evening batch'), and punctuation errors (lack of capitalization at the start of sentences). Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack proper subject-verb agreement, such as 'all we know that every person do not know everything'. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score to a 5.5.
