Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the situation, stating your desired outcome, and asking for advice. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention being an international student and working, the connection between your work schedule and the specific inability to attend the evening course could be more clearly articulated. To improve, ensure that each point is fully expanded to provide the reader with a complete picture of your circumstances.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'On the other hand' is used to contrast your work situation with the course's importance, but this does not quite fit the context of explaining why you cannot attend. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack smooth transitions, such as the opening paragraph which feels a bit disjointed. Using a wider variety of linking words would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your needs clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'enrolment', 'semester', and 'pathway'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'Permanbet' (Permanent) and 'this course is plays' (this course plays). To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and more precise collocations. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to academic or professional contexts to demonstrate a wider range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Issues include missing articles ('As I am international student'), subject-verb agreement ('This study have'), and awkward phrasing ('which seems not good decision'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around punctuation marks. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, such as article usage and verb forms, will significantly improve your writing.
