Requested Admission department,

I hope you find this letter in good spirits. I m writing this letter to explain my situation for not able to continuing on-going in-person course of Computer Science languages due to medical emergency of my uncle and therefore I m requesting to allow to transfer my admission for upcoming term in January.

I had to decide to postpone my course because I did tried to attend the online session but it didn’t work well as it is getting hard for me to concentrate while constantly being in the hospital. Therefore , I have been thinking if I can get your approval to allocate my admission for next term.

Please this is my humble request if you can able to guide me through the process to overcome my situation.

Thank you so much for time you are going take to help me through my struggle.

Your Sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the situation, stating your desired outcome, and asking for advice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear from the beginning. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention a 'medical emergency,' providing a slightly more specific (though still private) context or detailing the duration of the delay would have strengthened the response. The letter covers the requirements sufficiently to meet the criteria for a Band 6.0, as all parts are addressed, though the development is basic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your request. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'therefore' and 'because' to link your ideas. However, the transitions between sentences can feel a bit mechanical, and there is a lack of variety in the cohesive devices used. The opening and closing salutations are slightly non-standard (e.g., 'Requested Admission department' and 'Your Sincerely'), which affects the overall flow and professional presentation of the letter. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring standard formal letter conventions would improve this score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'postpone,' 'concentrate,' and 'admission.' However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'I hope you find this letter in good spirits' (a slight misuse of the idiom) and 'allocate my admission.' These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms ('not able to continuing,' 'I did tried,' 'if you can able to') and missing articles. While you attempt some complex sentence structures, these are often where the errors occur. The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction is often clunky. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs. The errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication.
