Dear Sir,
My name is Max Smith and I am attending course of human respurces leadership at your institution. I have registered for evening class from 6 PM to 8 PM, I wanted to inform you that I will not be able to continue my course during this term.
The reason I am unable to continue my course is that I am currently too much occupied with my office work as one of my colleague has gone on emergency leave and along with my own work I have to handle some of her duties as well. There are some follow ups and reports which I need to update even after my office hours and Its too overwhelming to manage my study and office work simultanoeulsy.
Its very important for me to complete this course and obtain certification as I woudl like to pursue my career in human resources, however I wanted to postpone it for another few months and willing to continue this course during next term in March 2027.I will be able to pay proper attention as i will have sufficien time to concentrate on my studies.I would like to seek your advice regarding this matter , plaese guide me to whom I need to contact in administration office to take approval to continue thsi course during next term with same payment schedule
Looking forward for your co-operation and sooner response to above request
Yours sincerely,
Max Smith

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0
The response covers all parts of the task very well, successfully fulfilling all bullet points in a semi-formal letter format. You clearly explain your situation and why you cannot continue the course due to increased workload at the office. You also explicitly state what you would like to do by requesting to postpone your studies until March 2027, and you ask for advice regarding administration contacts and payment schedules. The ideas are well-developed and sustained throughout the letter, presenting a clear purpose and a natural tone appropriate for communicating with an educational institution. To achieve an even higher band, you could expand slightly more on how the schedule change would impact your future goals, but overall the task is thoroughly addressed with relevant and well-extended details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter demonstrates a clear logical organization and progression throughout. You start with an appropriate salutation, introduce your purpose in the opening paragraph, elaborate on the reasons in the body, and conclude with a polite sign-off. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate the introduction, the explanation of work pressures, the proposed postponement, and the final administrative questions. Cohesive devices such as 'however', 'therefore' (implied), and referencing words like 'this course' are generally used well, though referencing can occasionally feel slightly repetitive or mechanical. To move to a higher band, ensure smoother transitions between sentences and a more natural flow of ideas without relying heavily on simple conjunctions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'institution', 'postpone', and 'concentrate'. However, there are some spelling and word-choice errors that slightly affect precision, such as 'respurces' instead of 'resources', 'simultanoeulsy' instead of 'simultaneously', and 'woudl' instead of 'would'. Phrases like 'too much occupied' could also be expressed more naturally. While these errors do not impede communication and the meaning remains clear throughout, they prevent the vocabulary score from reaching a higher level where a wider, more flexible range with fewer slips is required.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to handle multi-clause sentences such as when explaining your work situation and future intentions. However, there are noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation that occur with some frequency, including missing articles ('attending course of human resources'), comma splices ('...with my own work I have to handle...'), and preposition usage ('contact in administration office'). Punctuation and capitalization errors also appear around sentence boundaries. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, the presence of frequent grammatical inaccuracies places this response at the current level, as a higher band requires a greater proportion of error-free sentences and stronger control over complex structures.
