Across the globe, it has been concluded that smoking should be prohibited because it has been discovered that an increasing number of individuals are engaging in smoking which can cause some haelth issues. I totally agree with this view because it is dangerous to human health and the environment.
First and foremost, ninety percent of people that smoke are aware of the health challenge it brings. That is the reason it should be made illegal in order to protect the lives of people. The authority should conduct frequent campaign to tell and remind its citizen of the major health issues smoking causes. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Your position is clear: you state, “I totally agree,” and give relevant reasons concerning health and environmental harm. The cancer example also supports your health argument. However, the response addresses the task only partially because both reasons are introduced but not sufficiently explained, and the environmental point is cut off after “which a,” leaving it without a complete explanation or example. The discussion also focuses on campaigns and reminders rather than explaining how making smoking illegal would work or why prohibition is preferable to other measures. The response is 173 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough development to fully answer the question. Extend each reason with a specific explanation and example, and complete the environmental argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “First and foremost,” and a further point introduced by “Furthermore.” These signposts help the reader identify the intended sequence of reasons. Within the first body paragraph, the ideas move from awareness of health risks to cancer and then to the effect of reminders. However, the progression is not fully sustained: the final environmental sentence breaks off, and the relationship between public campaigns and making smoking illegal is not clearly connected. Some linking phrases, such as “That is the reason,” make the argument feel formulaic. Develop complete paragraphs with a clear main point, explanation, and example, and use referencing and transitions to show how each idea supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “prohibited,” “health issues,” “environment,” and “deadly disease,” which makes your subject clear. There is also an attempt to use more formal expressions such as “First and foremost.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “health challenge it brings,” “conduct frequent campaign,” and “ciggrate renmant.” Spelling errors such as “haelth,” “exeperience,” and “definetly” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Aim for precise, natural combinations such as “health risks,” “run frequent campaigns,” and “cigarette butts.” Proofreading spelling and choosing familiar, accurate collocations will make your ideas easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, including the relative clause in “people that smoke are aware” and the conditional sentence “When people are being reminded … they would drift away from it.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but control is uneven. For example, “The authority should conduct frequent campaign” has a number-agreement problem, while “remind its citizen” also needs a plural noun. The conditional construction is awkward, and the final sentence is incomplete, ending with “which a.” Punctuation is also inconsistent, with an unnecessary space before the full stop in “it .” Practise accurate plural forms and complete sentence structures, and check that each sentence has a clear ending.
