Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the health risks are mentioned, the argument regarding the illegality of tobacco is underdeveloped and slightly confusing, particularly the section discussing the government's role in medicine production. The example cited regarding UNICEF and the 30% statistic lacks clarity and seems factually questionable in this context, which weakens the support for your argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are logically sound and directly reinforce your main position without introducing contradictory or unclear claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'To conclude'. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical or disjointed. For instance, the transition between the health risks and the government's responsibility is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences, such as 'there is no way it should not be possible to even make illegally produced', are difficult to follow due to awkward phrasing. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the essay read more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You use some appropriate terms like 'injurious', 'comprehensive', and 'regulations', but there are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'the business of making any kind of cigarette' and 'the government holds the key to secure their people'. Some phrasing is repetitive, and there is a lack of sophisticated collocations. Focusing on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to public policy and health would significantly improve your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors that hinder clarity, such as 'Although some of tobacco is still being used to make medicine but it contract shouldn’t allow to go any private company'. There are frequent errors in article usage, subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction (e.g., 'whoever is or making tobacco products'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence structure and punctuation.
