Student answer (Band 6.0)

Smoking has been a serious matter that impact overall health conditions of person. Some argue that smoking should be highly restricted as it discourage the health and leads to severe medical conditions. I strongly agree with the notion that it should be banned on account of protecting the youth of the nations and rescue pressure on death care system.

There are several complelling underlying reasons to made smoking illegal in the nations, among which protection of youth is chief. In today scenario, a large proportion of adults are exposed to smoking habits, making them worst for future. Consequently, younger generations leads to degrade the future of respective society and country. A pertinent example can be seen from Punjab, India where a noticeable counts have smoking addiction reluctant to work and earn.

Furthermore, another significant reason is its detrimental impact on overall health directly putting pressure on government bodies and health care system of the country. Smoking badly attack the lungs conditions of person making them vulnerable to breath. Consequently, general public relies on better health care to provide them useful treatment. In a survey conducted by World health Organization, they generated a report on percentage of people being affected by smoking habits and treated by government hospitals left with hefty amount of bills.

However, to alleviate this predicament from society, general public should be provided useful information and educational sessions describing about the causes and impact of this bad habit. This will definitely bring a tangible difference among youth and local communities.

In conclusion, Although smoking should be banned and made illegal to consume, offering proper guidance and education on its imperial consequences to youngsters of nations helps to tackle this hurdle in an effective way. I believe banning it would bring a noticjale change in overall health of general public.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout the essay. You address the prompt by discussing the protection of youth and the burden on the healthcare system. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the reference to Punjab is vague and does not clearly explain how a ban would specifically solve the issue of addiction. Additionally, the argument regarding the healthcare system is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more specific and directly linked to the logical consequences of a total ban, rather than just describing the current problems.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'In today scenario' or 'In conclusion, Although'. The referencing is generally clear, but the relationship between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring they are used more naturally would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'detrimental', 'predicament', and 'vulnerable'. However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'rescue pressure' (likely meant 'alleviate pressure'), 'badly attack the lungs conditions', and 'imperial consequences' (likely meant 'dire' or 'serious'). These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and ensure you are using vocabulary in the correct context to avoid confusion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('younger generations leads to degrade') and incorrect verb forms ('reasons to made smoking illegal'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
