Student answer (Band 5.0)
AS A FACT, MANY THINKERS ALWAYS ARGUE THAT STRICT LAWS SHOULD BE MADE FOR SMOKING, WHICH LEADS TO ILLNESS IS CONVINCING. I THINK IN REVERSE MANNER AND AGGREE TO THE GIVEN STATEMENT. MY INCLINATION WILL BE JUSTIFIED AND ARTICULATED IN GIVEN PARAGRAPHS.
OUT OF ALL ARGUMENTS ON SMOKING, THE STRONGEST ONE TO PROVE MY VIEW IS THE RECENT HEALTH PROBLEMS FACED BY INDIVIDUAL IS BREATHING. THIS IS TO SAY THAT, IT HAS BEEN FOUND A MAJOR ISSUE THAT YOUNGSTERS FOLLOW THE TREND AND TRY TO ACQUIRE THE HABITS FROM THE SOCIETY.
A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THIS IS, RECENTLY TIMES NEWS SHOULD THE ARTICLE STATING THAT MORE THE 60% OF CIVIL HOSPITAL IS FACING LUNG CANCER. TO BE MORE NOTICEABLE AROUND 90% ARE THE TEENAGERS. BESIDES THIS IT IS ALSO TRUE THAT, SMOKING A VALUE FIGURE IN SURROUNDINGS. BY THIS I MEAN, PEOPLE FEEL TO BE MORE COOL AND VALUED IF THEY TEND TO HAVE A SMOKE IN THREE HAND. THEY ARE NOT AWARE THAT WHAT ADVERS EFFECTS THIS FIRING GUN CAN CAUSE.
ON CONTRARY, OTHERS COUNTER CLAIM THAT SMOKING IS NOT ONLY THE MAJOR CAUSE FOR HEALTH PROBLEMS. THE FOREMOST ARGUMENT THEY DO IS ENVIRONMENT, ALCOHOL, AND HEREDITARY PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE IN HEALTH ISSUES.
ALSO, THEY DO SAY THAT ITS JUST PART OF TIME TO LIVE OUT THE LIFE IN BEST WAY. SO, IN YOUNG LIFE THEY TEND TO EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING ONCE.
THUS, TO WRAP UP THE DISCUSSION, IT CAN BE SAID THAT DESPITE OF THE OTHER FACTORS FOR HEALTH CONCERNS, MY BELIVE OF SMOKES TO BE THE SIGNIFICANT FACTOR BEHIND ILLNESS IS LOGICALLY ACCEPTABLE.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that smoking should be illegal. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you attempt to provide reasons, the arguments are often unclear or lack logical depth. For instance, the claim about 'youngsters' and 'civil hospital' statistics is vague and lacks a coherent link to the argument for a total ban. The counter-argument section is also underdeveloped, as it merely lists other factors without explaining how they relate to the debate on legality. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-explained point that directly supports your stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On contrary' and 'Thus', they are sometimes used incorrectly or mechanically. The referencing is occasionally confusing, such as the phrase 'in three hand', which obscures the meaning. The transition between the main argument and the counter-argument is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which occasionally impedes communication. Phrases like 'firing gun' to describe a cigarette and 'in three hand' are non-standard and confusing. There is an attempt to use more academic language, but the word choices are frequently inappropriate for the context (e.g., 'value figure' or 'live out the life'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to health and social issues and ensure you are using words in their correct context. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary will help you express your ideas with more precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is low. Frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and word order occur throughout the text, such as 'more the 60% of civil hospital is facing' and 'my belive of smokes'. These errors are persistent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. While the basic message is understandable, the lack of control over complex structures limits the score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and correct article usage before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
