Student answer (Band 6.5)
Smoking is always a menace for the society. It is effecting the life of individuals in numerous ways. I certainly agree with the statement that smoking leads to various cardiovascular diseases and should be banned by the law enforcement authorities.
Smoking has detrimental effects on both the active smokers and the passive smokers. mostly individuals smokes in the public places or around their families friends and this practice can causes issues to them as well because they are inhaling the same malicious air with them. Moreover, smoking cigratee or being in such environment can cause diseases especially associated with lungs such as lung cancer and asthma. This is because lungs are the major organ involved in the smoking. Additionally, teenagers are also addicted to smoking e-cigratees known as 'vapes'. These vapes are the modern version of traditional cigarettes and destroying the life and health of the young generation in similar way.
All these tobacco products such as cigarettes, vapes and nicotine tablets should be banned by the government and they should run awareness campaigns to educate population regarding its harmful outcomes. This should be done through TV adverts, social media, posters, and education camps in neighborhoods. Additionally, individuals who are smoking in public should be heavily penalized. Consequently, this could contribute towards better and healthy lifestyles of citizens and reduce stress on healthcare system. For example, prohibited sales and declaring trade of tobacoo products illegal significantly reduces the cancer cases in India.
To sum up, the consumption of tobacco can negatively affect individuals and their families. Authorities should ban sale of such products and raise awareness among individuals. Therefore, I believe a balanced approach, combining careful planning with strong and strict laws against tobacco, is the most practice solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of banning tobacco products. The ideas are relevant, such as the health risks to passive smokers and the impact on the healthcare system. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the suggestion of awareness campaigns is good, the argument could be strengthened by exploring the potential counter-arguments or the practical difficulties of such a ban, which would provide a more balanced and nuanced discussion. The example regarding India is specific and adds value, though it is presented briefly. Overall, the position is clear and maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the health impacts to the proposed solutions. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Consequently', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem from the proposed solutions. Referencing is generally clear, although there are minor issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the second paragraph regarding 'malicious air'. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more specific terminology like 'cardiovascular diseases', 'passive smokers', and 'malicious air'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'cigratee' (cigarettes) and 'tobacoo' (tobacco), and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'most practice solution' instead of 'most practical solution'. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, the presence of these errors and the lack of more sophisticated, precise collocations limit the score. Improving spelling and refining word choices would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'It is effecting' (affecting), 'individuals smokes' (smoke), and 'this practice can causes' (cause). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not generally impede communication. The control over punctuation and verb agreement needs improvement. While the writer attempts complex structures, the accuracy is inconsistent. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on eliminating basic subject-verb agreement errors and ensuring consistent use of verb forms.
