Student answer (Band 6.5)
Smoking is really harmful for health. This is a widely discussed debate topic that smoking should be banned for the safety of people. I totally agree with the statement that smoking should be restricted. The reasons for this will be discussed below.
To begin with, smoking leads to physical and mental disability. There are many toxic chemicals which are released while people smoke. These harmful gases may lead to cancer, kidney damage and throat issues. The problem of hypertension and anger issue are also elevated because of excessive consumption of smokes. As a result, people are becoming unhealthy day by day and power of taking wise decisions also mitigate.
Furthermore, smoking also makes the emotional bond weaker. There are regular fights between the couples and parents because they want their loved ones to stop smoking. This creates the depressing environment around them which weaken the relations in family.
Moreover, youngsters are being influenced by elders smoking habits. Most elders smoke openly at their home, this raises the curiosity of children to know more about smoking. They start smoking at early age due to peer pressure which distracts them from their studies. Consequently, the youngsters feel fatigue the day they skip smoking. This makes the vulnerable situation for children. For instance, teenagers to join to popular group of college and school starts smoking by bad influence.
To conclude ,In my opinion it would be a daunting task for superiors to demolish all the smokes from market. However, the government needs to take some preventive measures to ban the smokes. They could impose heavy taxes and put some heavy penalty on an individual who has been found smoking openly. This would reduced the consumption of smoke.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The response addresses the prompt by discussing the health, social, and developmental impacts of smoking. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the point about 'emotional bonds' is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with a concrete example. Similarly, the conclusion introduces a new idea about the difficulty of a total ban, which is a good critical thought, but it feels slightly disconnected from the previous paragraphs. To improve, ensure each body paragraph has a clear, well-supported main idea that directly links back to your central argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with flow between sentences, such as in the final paragraph where the transition from the conclusion to the proposed solutions is slightly abrupt. Using a wider variety of cohesive markers and ensuring that sentences within paragraphs are more tightly linked would help improve the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'toxic chemicals', 'hypertension', and 'preventive measures'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'demolish all the smokes' is unnatural; 'eradicate smoking' or 'ban tobacco products' would be more appropriate. Additionally, 'power of taking wise decisions also mitigate' is grammatically and lexically awkward. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'the smokes' or 'smoking' when referring to the habit.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally hinder the reader. For instance, 'This makes the vulnerable situation for children' is grammatically incorrect, and 'In my opinion it would be a daunting task for superiors to demolish all the smokes from market' contains article errors and awkward phrasing. Subject-verb agreement and pluralization (e.g., 'elders smoking habits' instead of 'elders' smoking habits') are areas that need attention. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
