Student answer (Band 6.0)
"Smoking is injuries to health". This disclaimer is written on every cigarette box and despite some people are addicted to smoke. Smoking has several serious health related issues which directly affect lungs and causes cancer. I believe government must take some strict actions and should make consumption illegal. I totally agree with the above statement. This essay will examine why authorities must take accountability to ban smokes.
To commence with, because of smoking many individuals have lost their lives. Cigarette has high quantity of nicotine that cause throat and lungs cancer. Moreover once a person gets addicted, it becomes difficult for them to get rid of it. As a result, they end up in hospitals. For example: in such situation where one of the family member suffers from disease like cancer, entire family has to be the victim. Additionally, the medical is already too expensive and treatment cost a lot of money.
Despite having an understanding the cause of smoking many people still smoke and claims that it releases stress. Moreover, it has been noticed that people working in co-operate smokes regularly as compared to others. To overcome this situation, I believe government must take strict actions to improve this situation. For instance: Authorities must ban selling smokes in the country and must track of imports. Once government makes its illegal and then anyone seen smoking must get the ticket to pay fine .
In my opinion, if a person realizes the significance of being alive for the loved ones, they will quit smoking. Not only to health but also smoke that a cigarette release consist of nicotine which destroys environment.
Overall, smoking is a true cause for illnesses and authorities should ban it completely. Its spoils well-being and cause health related problems like cancer which can end someone's life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning smoking. The ideas are relevant, such as the health risks and the burden on the healthcare system. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the environmental impact is introduced in the penultimate paragraph but remains underdeveloped and lacks a clear connection to the main argument of legality. While the position is consistent, the supporting points could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the health risks to the proposed solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To commence with' and 'For instance: in such situation'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is functional, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their opinion clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'accountability' and 'significance', but there are also persistent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'smoking is injuries to health' (should be 'injurious') and 'get the ticket to pay fine' (should be 'be fined'). The range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but the lack of precision and occasional misuse of words limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('cigarette has high quantity', 'people... claims that it releases stress') and article usage ('the medical is already too expensive'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralization.
