Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, where healthcare evolution is at peak and we are performing in a way what seems to be impossible just Decade ago. Still, cancer takes thousands of lives away in today's world. Formost cancers deases reason behind is smoking. when, it comes to the question should smoking to be made illegel? I fully agree with that i support that as well.

smoking is the main reason behind cancer related death. Smoking effect the lungs of the smoker and than it suffers from many serious illeness. TB, Lung failure , mouth cancer , or lung cancer are the main side effect of the smoking, person suffers from extreme pain and/or medical condition before leaving this earth. In some reseach it is found to be realated to physcological condition as well. I believe people risk their whole life just have smoker for minute.

smoking doest not affect the smokker only, it affects the whole family. If someone lost their life because of smoking habbits and it was the only source of the income for household it might become bankrupt. If person gets long term dieses like paralysis or something , family will be burried under huge madical bills. medical expenses just does not break the household financially, it will ruin it in all the way. in addition, person it self become dependent on the someone else so family need to take care of a patient and it gives lot of burden on every body in the household.

some will counter by saying that that is the thing which makes them feel relaxed from daily life or it gives them a quick break from daily life. i would say smokking is not the way to get realaxed. Taking walk in fresh air, building new hobby or sometimes keeping your self busy in what you like can make you feel relaxed. To be relaxed smokking isn't the only way.

To sum uo, some people smoke to feel relaxed from day to day life though there are lots of alternative to be feel relaxed, and the as i discussed there is only cons to have smoke with absolutly zero benefits so i believe smoking needs to banned from whole world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of banning smoking. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health consequences and the economic burden on families. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the arguments could be more sophisticated. For instance, the discussion on 'psychological conditions' is vague and lacks depth. While the position is consistent throughout, the supporting arguments rely on generalizations rather than detailed analysis or specific examples, which limits the depth of the response. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments and perhaps address the counter-argument with more academic rigor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from health impacts to financial consequences and finally a rebuttal of the counter-argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'Formost cancers deases', 'than it suffers'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'that is the thing which makes them feel relaxed'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'illegel', 'deases', 'physcological', 'smokker', 'uo') and awkward collocations (e.g., 'healthcare evolution is at peak', 'ruin it in all the way'). While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the recurring spelling mistakes prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and proofreading for common spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('smoking doest not affect', 'medical expenses just does not break'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing ('what seems to be impossible just Decade ago'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is usually conveyed, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures limits the score. Increasing the accuracy of simple sentences should be your priority before attempting more complex structures.
