Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning smoking. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention health risks and the role of government, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the second paragraph lists health issues but does not fully explain the logical connection to why a total ban is the only solution. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported main idea with specific examples or logical consequences. The conclusion is a bit brief and simply restates the position rather than summarizing the main points effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'Apart from it' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'due to which, new generation will aware of dangerous its.' The progression of ideas is present but feels disjointed at times. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensuring that each sentence connects logically to the one before it.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'big concern' and 'a lot of problem.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'forgive smoking' (likely meaning 'give up') and 'making process of smoking their areas' (which is unclear). Some attempts at more complex vocabulary are hindered by incorrect usage. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to health and public policy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the essay, which occasionally impedes communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('smoking create'), missing articles ('the' before 'government'), and incorrect sentence structure ('This is because, create a lot of problem'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often grammatically flawed, such as 'The government should also forbid movies or serial who promote smoking.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and pay closer attention to verb tenses and pluralization.
