Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern society, smoking is a serious issue because it can lead to many health problems such as mouth and lungs cancer, and respiratory diseases. Personally, I accord with above mentioned view that it should be banned in country in order to ensure public health, reduce burdan on healthcare system, protect green spaces, and prevent the health issues caused by smoking. In this essay, I will express my views about banning smoking along with relevant examples in subsequent paragraphs.
To commence with, government should make strict regulation for sale and use of tabakoo and cigarette in the country that can help in improving health of citizens, and increase their life expectancy. To further justify it, use of cigarettes caues many health problems related to lungs and respiratory system that increase the death rate. In addition, in some cases, it cause serious illness that increase economic burdan on the health system of country. Moreover, smoking not only impact the health of smoker but also other people who come in to contact of that person. For instance, smoking have a negative effect on health of pregnant women which can lead to bith of baby with lungs and respiratory disease. Consequently, smoking is dangerous for person who smoke as well as other people. Therefore, sale and use of smoking should be made illegal by authorities.
Furthermore, smoking has a detrimental effect on our ecosystem. It pollute the sorrounding air that lead to scarcity of fresh air. Toxins of smoking enter into other people body when they breathe in polluted air and lead to lung cancer that is serious issue in many countries.
In conclusion, use of cigarettes, and cigars by people on public places, homes, and working place cause air pollution and danerous for public health therefore should be made illegal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear and consistent position that smoking should be made illegal to protect public health and the environment. The response outlines relevant main ideas, such as reducing the healthcare burden and protecting non-smokers and ecosystems. However, these ideas tend to be somewhat repetitive and lack deeper extension or more specific real-world examples, relying on general statements like 'cause many health problems related to lungs.' This places the response firmly within Band 6, where the task is addressed with relevant ideas, but some elements remain under-developed or general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments about health and environmental impacts. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with,' 'In addition,' and 'Furthermore' are employed to guide the reader through the text, though referencing and conjunctions are at times mechanical or slightly repetitive. While the overall progression is generally logical, the occasional awkward transition prevents the response from achieving a higher band. Overall, this performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully using topic-specific terms such as 'respiratory diseases,' 'life expectancy,' and 'economic burden.' However, there are notable spelling and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'burdan' instead of burden, 'tabakoo' instead of tobacco, 'caues' instead of causes, 'bith' instead of birth, 'sorrounding' instead of surrounding, and 'danerous' instead of dangerous. The student attempts less common vocabulary, but these spelling and morphological errors restrict the score. These issues do not impede overall communication, placing the response solidly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition with structures like relative clauses ('that can help in improving health') and conditional meanings. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and articles, such as 'government should make strict regulation' instead of regulations, 'smoking have a negative effect,' and 'person who smoke' instead of smokes. Punctuation and preposition errors also occur ('come in to contact of that person'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause strain, but they rarely impede overall communication, making a Band 5.5 score appropriate.
