Student answer (Band 5.0)

Smoking can cause serious illnesses and should be made illegal. i am fully agree with this statment as our young genration is to much involve in this habbit.

But my opinion is just an opinion which cant do in postive or nagtive ways.

i thing the govt. departmemts like ministry of health should take is serious.

i have some sugession to control it ad i am writing below in points:

1. it should be ban at smoke shops as they should not alloed to sell under 18.

2. Nobody can sale it without the license.

3. It should be ban on public ares like transport or bus stands etc.

4. all brands should be approved from ministry of health.

5. it should be consider a voilation if any brand selling it without mension the percentage of nictine.

These are some examples to control that and we can develope a strong law against such type of products. in some counties govt. doing a lot of work like awearness in child schools in kinder garden level.

advertisment on public places.

in this globalization AI technology is using publically and we can creat different awearness clips like how that damadge a human body internally by using AI.

aslo in schools after every 6 months we should do lab test to check that who os smoker and meed counciling.

woth these such type of ideas we can not finish it in socity but we can minimise these type of habits specilly in young genration.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response sits at this level because it only partially addresses the task. First, it must be noted that the response is 10 words short of the 250-word minimum, excluding the 10 words copied directly from the prompt. While the writer expresses a clear position by stating 'i am fully agree with this statment,' the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. The candidate attempts to present suggestions and solutions, such as banning sales to those under 18 and utilizing AI technology for awareness campaigns, but these points are listed in a somewhat disjointed manner without sufficient elaboration or consistent support. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to fully extend and support their ideas with relevant explanations and examples, ensure all parts of the prompt are explored thoroughly, and meet the minimum word count requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay shows some organisation, particularly through the use of a numbered list to structure the proposed solutions. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, and paragraphing is disrupted by the unstandardised list format and fragmented sentences such as 'advertisment on public places.' Referencing and transitions between ideas are often abrupt, making the logical flow difficult to follow at times. To achieve a higher band, the writer must implement a clear overall structure using standard paragraphs instead of lists, employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas smoothly, and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'globalization' and 'counciling,' but these are offset by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form—for example, 'statment,' 'genration,' 'habbit,' 'sale' instead of 'sell,' 'voilation,' and 'nictine.' These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To reach the next band, the candidate needs to expand their lexical range, demonstrate greater control over less common items with appropriate collocations and style, and significantly improve their spelling and word-formation accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple and basic sentence structures, while attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, such as 'i am fully agree with this statment as our young genration is to much involve in this habbit.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation—such as lowercase 'i' throughout and missing capitalization—which can cause difficulty for the reader. To progress to a higher band, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures with good control, significantly reduce the frequency of grammatical errors, and pay closer attention to basic sentence mechanics and punctuation.
