Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, Smoking is the most debated issue which lead to various health problems .It is believed by most of the people to completely banned it. I strongly agree with this viewpoint as it has many harmful effects for both who is taking and who is inhaling.
First of all, the main reason behind the ban on smoking is creating lot of problems to their body like tabacco uses can cause a wide range of health issues including lung cancer, heart disease. As a result , smokers require expensive treatment in which they put finacial pressure on their family as well as on goverment funds.Secondly, smokers also affect their near and dear ones like their family members and colleagues. For instance, when children inhale that type of smoke ,they may develop breathing problems. Therefore, it is a responsibility of government to take the action against it so it can be controlled.
Another reason for taking action against smoking is to protect the young people. Most of the people start smoking in the age of teenagers just because of peer pressure, their curiosity. once they become addicted to nicotine then this could be very difficult for them to quit. They can take any type of risk if they dont recieved smoke like harm to people for money even they could attempt murder . so it is neccessory for ban the smoking to prevent a new generation from developing this addiction.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that smoking should be banned because of health issues and creating problems for children and safe young people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the central issue with relevant reasons: health risks, the impact of second-hand smoke on children, and the danger of nicotine addiction among young people. The examples about children developing breathing problems and teenagers starting through peer pressure help make the argument relevant. However, the case for making smoking illegal is not fully developed: the discussion focuses mainly on harms and does not explain how a legal ban would work or acknowledge possible objections, such as personal choice or enforcement. The claim that addicted smokers might “attempt murder” is extreme and unsupported. Developing the policy argument and supporting claims more carefully would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “Another reason” make the progression easy to follow, and the conclusion returns to your main position. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, some links feel mechanical, and several sentences run together because punctuation and spacing are not controlled consistently. For example, “Therefore, it is a responsibility…” follows the second-hand-smoke example without a clear explanation of the connection to government action. The final body paragraph also moves abruptly from peer pressure to severe criminal behaviour. Use clearer transitions between claims and explain how each example supports the paragraph’s main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “lung cancer,” “heart disease,” “peer pressure,” and “addicted to nicotine,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “financial pressure” and “government funds.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated or imprecise wording, including “problems,” “smoking,” and “take action.” Several spelling errors—“tabacco,” “finacial,” “goverment,” and “neccessory”—are noticeable, while phrases such as “who is taking” and “near and dear ones” are awkward in this context. Choose more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. This would make the argument clearer and more natural without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure in “once they become addicted to nicotine then this could be very difficult for them to quit.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but control is inconsistent, and complex constructions often contain errors. Examples include “which lead” instead of a correctly formed relative clause, “it is believed … to completely banned it,” and “Most of the people start smoking in the age of teenagers.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries; for instance, “when children inhale that type of smoke ,they…” needs cleaner punctuation. Practise building accurate clauses before adding complexity, and proofread for complete sentences, verb forms, and punctuation.
